At the Divemaster internship Academy we offer internships to suit all budgets.
As we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of our PADI Divemaster interns we have made some changes for 2016.
Traditionally there are 2 or 3 offerings on durations of internships for the PADI Divemaster course.
An industry standard has always been 8 weeks or 12 weeks to become a PADI Divemaster. We challenged this with the Fast Track 4 week internship, which we developed for those starting with more diving experience and a current higher diving certification.
We found the main reason for a 12 week Divemaster internship was for Dive Centres to get free labour for longer rather than giving interns more or better training!
As we, at The Divemaster Internship Academy, do not force candidates to work in exchange for a professional certification they do not need to give up 3 months, or more, of their lives to achieve the certification. On average elsewhere, a Divemaster intern will “work” for 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week to pay off his certification / training. This puts them on an hourly rate of just over a Euro or less than one Pound!
Here in Tenerife we spend the time training you to be a Professional Divemaster. We have been able to streamline the duration you are here as we automatically save 72 hours a week of your time by not having you run around as an unpaid staff member! Whilst you will still gain experience with assisting, with other PADI Divemasters and PADI Instructors, and gain basic Dive Centre maintenance, the majority of the time is invested in getting you to a high standard of training and ready to move on to the next stage of your diving career.
We still recommend you devote as much time as possible to gaining new experiences within diving however if you are restricted on the amount of time you have available for your internship you can now request a cost based on the minimum time you will need to gain your certification.
The 8 week internship is still the best option we have available if you are looking to start work in the industry but we understand not everyone has 8 weeks to spare.
